Oakridge couldn’t keep its early momentum going against Holland Black River and ended up on the short end of a 2-1 decision Wednesday in non-league soccer action.

Brandy Weaver scored seven minutes into the contest, giving Oakridge a 1-0 lead. Nichole Karel assisted on the goal.

But Black River scored twice in the second half, with tallies from Hanna Veenman and Allison Vroon, to secure the victory.

“We were not able to get very much offense going with the wind at our back (in the second half),” said Oakridge coach Jeffery Lohman. “The girls had a hard time connecting on the passes tonight, which impacted our possessions and any real scoring chances the rest of the game.”

Holland Black River outshot Oakridge 10-7.
