Chippewa Hills beats Grant for Division 2 district softball championship

Chippewa Hills beat Grant 15-4 for a Division 2 district softball championship on Saturday at Tri-County High School.

Chippewa Hills (25-7) advances to face Escanaba in the regionals in what will be a re-match of last year’s regional championship.

Kendall Boone had a double, a home run and five RBIs to lead Chippewa Hills.

Grant’s Sammy Slachter had two hits in the title game and Emily Gabrielse fanned two in four innings.

Chippewa Hills advanced to the title game with a 16-0 win over Tri-County and Grant beat Newaygo 17-1 in the semifinals.
