Grand Haven split its softball doubleheader with East Kentwood on Wednesday. The Bucs fell 6-5 in the opener and won 6-1 in Game 2.

After a back and fourth battle in Game 1, East Kentwood scored the go ahead run in the top of the seventh off a Megan Smith single. Pitcher Abby Highway shut Grand Haven down 1,2,3 in the seventh.

Katelyn Messer, Kylie Masko and Morgan Hill posted two hits apiece while Mikayla Gronback had three hits and two RBI for Grand Haven.

In the nightcap, Masko shut down East Kentwood at the plate with seven strikeouts and just three hits.

Kaylee Hartwell batted 3-for-3 with four runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. Gronback batted 4-for-4 and Messer added a pair of singles for Grand Haven.
