Montague and Mona Shores split baseball doubleheader

Montague and Mona Shores splits a nonconference doubleheader on Tuesday.

The Sailors won the opener 9-3 and Montague the nightcap 7-2.

Mona Shores scored four runs in the third and fifth innings and one in the sixth inning to win the opener.

Elijah Wilson had three hits and two RBIs for Mona Shores in the opener and Tyler Trovinger had two hits.

Noah Dykstra earned the pitching win for Mona Shores in Game 1.

Jacob Buchberger and Ryan Loudermilk had two hits each for the Wildcats in the first game and Cody Gjertsen had a two-run double.

Montague scored three runs in the third and sixth innings in Game 2.

Chayce Lohman had two hits and Cameron Brayman a two-run double for the Wildcats.

Buchberger was the winning pitcherallowing two hits hits and fanning four.
