GRAND HAVEN — The East Kentwood Falcons ran away with one title and nosed their way to a second Friday in the O-K Red Conference boys and girls track meets.

The Falcons routed the competition in the boys meet by piling up 282 points. East Kentwood had six sprinters place in the 100-meter finals, four in the 200-meter finals, took three of the first four places in the 110-meter high hurdles and captured the top four spots in the high jump.

Rockford finished a distant second with 84 points. Grandville had 81 points, Holland West Ottawa 64, Grand Haven 58.5 and Hudsonville 57.5.

Brentton Smith won a league title for Grand Haven by taking the long jump with a 20-feet-11 and 1/2-inch effort.

In the girls competition, East Kentwood won with 176 points while Rockford had 170.5. Hudsonville finished third with 115.5 points, followed by Grandville (81), Grand Haven (44) and West Ottawa (43).

Amy Kober had the top finish for Grand Haven in the girls’ meet by taking second place in the high jump. Kober cleared 5 feet.
