The Spring Lake Lakers ran away with the girls team title Friday in the Lakes Eight Conference track meet.

Spring Lake won the girls title with 211 points, taking 10 first-place finishes.

Carlyn Arteaga won the 200- and 400-meter dashes while Grace Peterson took the 300-meter hurdles and high jump for Spring Lake. The other first places for the Lakers came from the 400- and 3,200-meter relay teams, and the LeRoux sisters.

Gabriella LeRoux, a freshman, edged her older sister Allie LeRoux by 00.01 inches in the pole vault where both cleared the 11-foot mark otherwise. Allie LeRoux also won the long jump.

Spring Lake’s other first first place came from Lacie Piekarski in the 3,200-meter run.

The final team scores had Spring Lake with 211 points, Ludington with 120, Grant with 59, Fremont with 50.5, Fruitport with 33.5, Orchard View with 33 and Howard City Tri-County with 16.

Individual league titles went to Fruitport’s Heidi Klinger in the 100-meter dash; Fremont’s Hannah Rodenberger in the 100-meter hurdles; Grant’s 800-meter relay team; and Ludington’s 1,600-meter relay unit.

Ludington also had two double winners in Lauren Biggs and Brandy Thomas. Biggs won both the  800- and 1,600-meter runs while Thomas took the discus and shot put crowns in the field events.
