The Fremont Packers opened the centennial season of football at their school on a high note, downing Sparta 24-14 in a non-league contest on their home field.

Fremont quarterback Christian Wade put the Packers on the board in the first quarter with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Blake Locke. Wade added another touchdown throw in the first half, a 20-yard toss to Will Hawkins, to give the Packers a 14-8 lead at halftime.

Wade set up a second-half touchdown with a 45-yard pass to Hawkins, then Locke finished the drive with a short scoring run.

Locke wrapped things up for Fremont with a 45-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

Wade was 12-for-17 for 156 yards passing. Dylan Collis rushed for  104 yards in 18 attempts, with Locke totaled 68 yards on 14 rushes. Hawkins snatched four receptions for 86 yards and Jake Yager had four catches for 39 yards.
