The Muskegon Community College volleyball team had a rough weekend in Wisconsin, going 0-4 against tough competition at the Battle of the Dells tournament in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

The Jayhawks competed against some of the nation’s best Division I, II and III junior college volleyball teams.

Their first match, against Des Moines Area Community College, was a back-and-forth, five-set marathon that Des Moines eventually won 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 24-26, 16-14.

Next was Iowa Central Community College, which overpowered the Jayhawks 37-35, 28-26, 22-25, 25-20. On Saturday they lost to Kirkwood Community College 25-16, 25-10, 25-17.

Finally the Jayhawks took on the No. 1 overall ranked team in the nation, Parkland Community College. MCC put up a fight by winning the third game, before falling 25-13, 25-21, 25-27, 25-18.

Leaders for the Jayhawks were Brandie Jones, who compiled 90 kills, 65 digs, and 4 blocks; Meghan Birr with 159 assists, 53 digs, 21 kills, 5 aces, 4 blocks; and Allison Beckwith with 8 blocks and 9 kills.
