The Muskegon Community College men’s soccer team opened up its regular season with a tough 1-0 loss to Morton Community College (Illinois) Sunday at Grand Haven High School.

Morton’s goal came 23 minutes into the first half when Maxwell Ejioga got between the Jayhawks defense and stuck a header into the back of the net.

Morton outshot the Jayhawks 8-4. Goalkeeper Jacob Berens stood out for MCC with seven saves.
