Home field advantage paid off for the Muskegon Mustangs in their first game of the Great Lakes Football League playoffs on Saturday. The Mustangs rolled past the South Haven Havoc, 55-18.

Muskegon didn’t let a slow start hamper its success as the team ran to a 21-6 halftime lead.

Quarterback Aaron Johnson went off for six touchdown passes including three in the second quarter.  James finished 14-of-24 passing for 311 yards.

Demonte Collins led the Mustangs receivers with five catches for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jamarcus Martin had three receptions for 93 yards and a TD. Martin also tallied a 75-yard kickoff return. Anthony Crump followed with 62 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Also catching TD passes for Muskegon were Dave Fox and Tony Terrell. Adarius Preston returned a punt 64 yards for a score while Elvis Osby had a 62-yard TD interception.

On the ground, Muskegon was led by Ryan Moore with 84 yards on 10 carries.
