The Muskegon Community College women’s soccer team lost its weekend match to Jackson College 5-2.

The Jayhawks trailed 2-1 at halftime, only to see the contest slip away down the stretch.

Kaitlin Richardson put MCC on the board with a goal in the first half. The Jayhawks had multiple chances in the half as Taylor Walker and Kortnie Heinig both had shots that hit the crossbar.

Alyssa Benedict scored MCC’s lone second half goal.

“There were a few costly mental mistakes that did us in,” said MCC coach Joshua Watson. “Other than the score we played a pretty good game. They moved the ball around well and found the players and spots that they wanted to exploit.”
