A quick start by Mona Shores against Rockford on Friday night looked as though the game would be all Sailors. But the Rams defense came up and turnovers hurt as Mona Shores fell 10-7.

Mona Shores’ Darece Roberson broke open an 80-yard touchdown run to put the Sailors up 7-0. Roberson’s sprint came on the first play on offense for the Sailors.

Turnovers would hurt Mona Shores who fell behind 10-7 by halftime.

The Sailors looked as though they were going to take the lead with five minutes remaining after breaking a deep run to Rockford’s 5-yard line. But a forced fumble gave Rockford the ball and the win.
