Week 2 of high school football action took place Friday night and two of the area’s best teams showed they have some skill. Muskegon overcame a rough first half to top Grand Rapids Christian 29-22 and Mona Shores rolled past Fruitport 48-7.

For Muskegon it was Caleb Washington and Keonte’ Whiteside who stepped up big. Washington scored a pair of second half touchdowns, including the game winner where he ran 36 yards to put Muskegon up 22-21. Whiteside found the end zone after he ran from 23 yards out off a Shawn Pfenning pass.

Check out the highlights below.

It was all offense in Mona Shores’ win over Fruitport. A top play of the night came off of special teams play when Derece Roberson returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown. Another nifty play was between receiver Hunter Broersma and quarterback Tyree Jackson. Jackson threw the quick out to Broersma who then juked out several Fruitport defenders to dash into the end zone from 20 yards out.

Take a look at Roberson’s return and Broersma’s TD reception.
