Fruitport exploded for three second-half goals en route to a 4-0 win over Orchard View on Thursday night.

Near the end of the first half, Cameron Brandow delivered a beautiful crossing pass to teammate Noah Hendricks who scored, giving the Trojans a 1-0 halftime advantage.

It took just 21 seconds into the second half for Zack Shane to pound the corner of the net after a pass from Hendricks to put Fruitport up by two goals. Hendricks found Shane again at 22:55 where Shane once again hit the corner of the net. Hendricks added the final Fruiport goal with 19:04 left on a penalty kick.

Conner Deneen made seven saves for the Trojans (5-2, 3-0), including one save on a penalty kick.

Fruitport will resume game action on Saturday against Grand Rapids Covenant Christian, which enters as the No. 2 ranked team in Division 4.

“The team is playing great,” said Fruitport coach Greg Kobylak. “Everyone is contributing and guys are starting to learn each other’s tendencies. The defensive unit is locked into our system. It was nice to earn the shutout.”

Grand Rapids Union 3, Reeths-Puffer 2: Union came back to score a pair of second half goals to pull out the victory. Kevin Marroquin scored to give Union a 1-0 lead. Reeths-Puffer answered with two goals before halftime to go up 2-1. Evan Hall assisted on a Logan Skinner goal and Hall later scored to give the Rockets their first lead of the game. Manny Lopez and Julien Ramsey scored for Union in the second half for the Red Hawks. Union outshot Reeths-Puffer 12-6. “We struggled to control the ball,” said Reeths-Puffer coach Keith Knapp. “Union played with much more energy, and we struggled to get many scoring opportunities. They simply out-played us.”
