Spring Lake used goals from Braeden Lukkari and Alec Palmer to down Muskegon Catholic 2-0 Tuesday in Lakes 8 Conference soccer action.

Keegan George got an assist on the Lukkari goal, while Kyle Zietlow had the assist on the Palmer tally.

The host Lakers dominated play by outshooting the Crusaders 17-0.

Muskegon Catholic stayed in the game with the outstanding play of goalkeeper Conner O’Neil, who stopped 15 shots to keep the score respectable.

The Lakers improved to 11-1-3 overall and 7-0 in conference play. They will host Fruitport, which is 6-1 in the league, in a conference showdown Thursday at 6:45 p.m.

Mona Shores 2, Zeeland East 0 – The Sailors maintained their lead in the O-K Conference race by with the shutout victory.  The Sailors’ Blake Yin scored with a few minutes left in the first half when he stole the ball from a Zeeland East defender and passed it into the back of the net. In the second half Ryan Susterich made a beautiful pass to Jake DeRemer, who buried his shot for his 18th goal of the season. Mona Shores goalkeeper Tyler LeMense made four saves in the shutout. The Sailors are now 10-3-2 overall and 5-0 in league play.
Fruitport 7, Orchard View 0 – The Fruitport soccer team warmed up for Thursday’s league showdown with Spring Lake by downing Orchard View  in Lakes 8 Conference action. Noah Hendricks led the way for Fruitport with a three-goal hat trick. Cameron Brandow, Alec Parker, Tyler Sileno and Zack Shane scored the other goals. Hendricks, Shane, Bryant Rebone and Nathan Sturtevant each had assists for Fruitport. Fruitport outshot Orchard View 16-3. The Trojans improved to 1-4 overall and 7-1 in the Lakes 8.

Grand Rapids Covenant Christian 1, Western Michigan Christian 0 –  Host WMC experienced the same fate as its earlier game against the Chargers. This time Travis Bouwkamp did the damage five minutes into the contest for Covenant Christian. Michael Merz had six saves in goal for WMC, which  was outshot 7-4.
