Western Michigan Christian blanks Grand Rapids West Catholic in boys soccer

Western Michigan Christian shut out Grand Rapids West Catholic 5-0 Saturday in non-league soccer action.

Will Deur tallied the Warriors’ first goal off an assist from Evan Fles. WMC took a 2-0 halftime lead after Eric Bourdo found the net off a corner kick.

At the start of the second half, Eli Vandervelde scored with an assist from Fles. WMC took a 4-0 lead shortly after with a John Larson goal. Eli Newly tallied the final goal with a shot that found the upper 90 on a tough angle.

WMC goalie Michael Merz shut out West Catholic in the first half with one save. Chris Visser and Hunter Berans shared the goaltending duties in the second half.
