Grand Haven lost its fifth straight game Friday night as Grandville posted a 53-18 victory.

The loss drops the Bucs to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in OK Red Conference play.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring on a 14-yard touchdown run by Nolan Meekhof, whose two-point conversion run gave Grandville an 8-0 lead after the first quarter.

Schaefer Thelen scored from 8 yards out to cut the Bulldogs’ lead to 8-6 with 11:20 to play in the second.

Brian Cappiello’s 40-yard touchdown run gave the Bulldogs a 14-6 lead with 9:28 left in the second.

Grand Haven responded two minutes later on a 46-yard touchdown run by Levi Overway cutting the Bulldogs’ lead to 14-12 with 7:01 left in the second.

Grandville put the game away by scoring 24 unanswered points.

Meekhof scored his second touchdown from 3 yards out with 6:35 left in the second. Cappiello caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Koorndyk with 28 seconds left in the half. Meekhof scored his third touchdown on a 49-yard run.

Aaron Cummings scored on a 13-yard touchdown run cutting the Bulldogs lead to 38-18 with 2:55 left in the third.

Cappiello scored his third touchdown from 3 yards out giving the Bulldogs a 46-18 lead.

Jake Garbarino closed out the game scoring with a 3-yard run.

Thelen led the Bucs with 97 yards rushing on 16 carries while Overway carried the ball eight times for 40 yards.
