The Mona Shores girls golf team finished in first place at the Division 2 girls golf regional tournament at Lincoln Golf Course Wednesday and earned a berth in the state finals.

The Sailors, competing in Region 6, posted a team score 0f 361, 25 shots better than second-place Forest Hills Central.

Rylee George (81) and Sami Pyman (91) paced Mona Shores, followed by Kendall McKinley (94), Andrea Majeski (95) and Darian Smith (102).

Elsewhere, senior Abbie Alfree of Western Michigan Christian qualified for her third consecutive Division 4 state final with an individual score of 85, good for second place in the regional tournament played at Mistwood Golf Course in Lake Ann.

Fellow WMC golfer Emily Kempster failed to qualify with a score of 121.
