The Shelby volleyball team didn’t let a bad first game hold it back from beating Holton 3-1 Thursday to claim a Class C district championship.

The Tigers fell 25-22 in the opener but won the next three games 25-19, 25-23 and  25-20.

Hannah Deblois led Shelby with 39 digs, 17 kills, 18 service points and one ace. McKenna Peters had 19 services points, three aces, and 14 kills while Sarajane Fortier had 43 assists.

Holton was paced by Rachel Younts with 13 kills, 12 digs, five blocks, six service points and one ace. Shelby Younts had 34 assists and Jackie Stone had 12 kills, nine service points and one ace. Katie Wildfong added 16 digs with six service points and one ace.

Shelby now advances to next week’s Class C regionals.
