The Muskegon Catholic boys basketball team closed the game on a 14-8 fourth quarter run and defeated Ludington 44-41 in Lakes 8 Conference action Friday night.

The Crusaders, who are now 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Lakes 8, were led by Dom Woodard with 13 points.

Christian Martinez had 11 points and five assists while Lamar Jordan III added seven points and four steals.

“We started kind slow,” said MCC coach Lamar Jordan. “We missed some lay ups early but defensively we came out intense and did a good job.”

The Orioles (0-2, 0-1) were led by Andrew Jones and Noah Laman with 10 points apiece.

Spring Lake 66, Fruitport 26 -The Lakers (1-1, 1-0) outscored the Trojans 17-4 in the first quarter and led 33-14 at halftime. Nate Batts led the Lakers with 12 points, six steals, and five assists while Mark Williamson added 11 points. Nick Kramer led the Trojans (0-1, 0-1) with six points.

Fremont 49, Orchard View 36Mason McDowell led Fremont (1-1, 1-0) with 13 points while Cam Crosley added eight points, five assists and six rebounds. Nathan Hoffman scored eight points with five steals, Sam Kaastra chipped in seven points and five rebounds and Mahlon Bolz had four assists and four rebounds. OV (0-2, 0-1) was led by Devron Williams with 11 points, Will Burrel with seven points and Logan Duzan had six points.
