The Muskegon boys basketball team faced a major challenge Saturday, and its two main point producers responded.

Joeviair Kennedy pumped in 31 points while Deyonta Davis recorded an impressive triple double (15 points, 22 rebounds and 13 blocks) as the Big Reds downed a powerful Romulus squad 69-59 in the Floyd Mayweather Classic.

Muskegon came into the game ranked third in the state in Class A while Romulus was ranked 10th.

The Big Reds took control early, opening up a 42-29 halftime lead. Romulus closed the gap with an 18-13 advantage in the third quarter, but could not overcome the early deficit.

Jaylin Walker scored 24 points for Romulus.
