The Holton boys basketball team captured its first win of the season with a 54-48 victory over Morley-Stanwood Friday in Central State Activities Conference play.

The Red Devils were led by Tanner Fowler with 14 points and Jacob Bowden with 11.

Holton is now 1-5 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.

Newaygo 57, Howard City Tri County 49James Warren scored 15 points for Newaygo while Ben Wolford had 14 of his own while hitting all eight of his free throws. Warren added seven rebounds for the Lions.

Hesperia 55, White Cloud 36 – The Panthers jumped out to a 12-4 lead after the first quarter and cruised to the win. Jake Palmer led the Panthers with 14 points while Joe Allen had 12. Nate McKeown grabbed 10 rebounds for the Panthers.

CSAA GIRLS

Morley Stanwood 55, Holton 48 – The Red Devils struggled as they were pressured into committing 22 turnovers. Katie Wildfong led the Red Devils with 12 points while Jacki Stone added 11 points.

Kent City 56, Lakeview 50 – The Eagles closed the game on a 20-16 fourth quarter run.  Bailey Freeland led the Eagles with 19 points while Kaitlyn Geers had 15 in the winning effort.

Tri-County 38, Newaygo 26 – Tri-County gained the winning edge by outscoring Newaygo 6-1 in the third quarter. Riley Knight led Newaygo with 8 points. Newaygo is now 3-5 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
