The Mona Shores girls basketball tgeam appears more than ready to open O-K Black Conference play on Friday.

The Sailors improved to 5-1 on the season with a convincing 62-44 non-league victory over Jenison on Tuesday. They will host Reeths-Puffer on Friday in an early matchup between two preseason favorites in the O-K Black.

Jordan Walker led the Sailors with 19 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and six steals. Shamara Tumblin got her first career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Kelsey Wolffis added nine points and six rebounds.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

Oarkidge 50, Shelby 35 – The Eagles (6-3. 5-0) remained perfect in league play. They led 11-7 after the first quarter and 32-23 after the third. Hannah Reinhold led Oakridge with 22 points, six rebounds and five steals while Emily Jacoutot added 13 points. The Tigers (5-4, 4-1) were led by Chloe Sillman with 16 points.

 NON-LEAGUE

NorthPointe Christian 58, Western Michigan Christian 52 – The host Warriors fell short in the non-league contest and fell to 3-4 on the season. Harlie Hubers led WMC with 14 points while Jessica Eekhoff added 12 points.

Coopersville 26, Fruitport 25 – The Trojans missed a 10-foot shot as time expired to fall to 3-3 on the season. Iyana Brown led the Trojans with 16 points.

Newaygo 45 Hesperia 25 Kylee Chesley led the Lions with 12 points and eight steals while Shyanne Jones also added 10 points and six rebounds. Maria Stitt had 10 points to lead the Panthers. Newaygo improves to 3-3 overall. Hesperia is now 2-5 on the season.
