Lakes 8 boys hoops: Fruitport gets its first win of the season, Ludington downs Fremont

The Fruitport boys basketball team raced to a 12-3 lead in the first quarter, then held on for a 54-45 win over Orchard View Friday to claim its first victory of the season.

Fruitport is now 1-10 overall and 1-4 in the Lakes 8 Conference.

Zac Miller paced the Trojans with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Matias Keyes had 20 points and 12 rebounds for Orchard View, which fell to 2-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play.

Ludington 58 Fremont 35 – The Orioles used a strong third quarter run of 17-7 to pull away from the Packers. Cameron Bandstra and Zac School had 18 and 17 points, respectively, for Ludington (5-5, 3-1). Osvald Tranholm led Fremont (3-8, 2-3) with 11 points.
