Lakes 8 girls hoops 1/16: Fruitport pulls away from MCC; Ludington and Spring Lake win

Iyana Brown scored 23 points to lead the Fruitport girls basketball team to a 49-29 Lakes 8 Conference victory over Muskegon Catholic Friday.

The Trojans took control by outscoring the Crusaders 19-6 in the second quarter and 12-6 in the fourth.

Zee Harris led the Crusaders with nine points.

Fruitport improved to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the league. MCC fell to 2-6 and 0-2.

Ludington 64, Orchard View 44 – A balanced Orioles attack proved to be too much for Orchard View. Kalli Wahr led Ludington with 14 points and Brandy Thomas and Kaci Kuster added 11 and 10, respectively. Jayshonna Blackshire paced the Cardinals with 16 points and A’miya Brown added 16.

Spring Lake 46, Fremont 16 – The Lakers allowed just five points in the third quarter and shut out the Packers in the fourth. Kelsee Zuidema led the Lakers with 20 points while Reiko Johnson had 18 in the victory.  Lexie Bradley led the Packers with six points.
