The West Michigan Lake Hawks closed out their regular season with their strongest offensive effort of the year with a 154-115 win over the visiting Libertyville Vipers on Saturday.

Kulawnie Saunders posted his biggest game of the season with 40 points. Saunders shot a hot 7 of 10 from behind the 3-point line, and also had eight rebounds and five assists.

West Michigan blasted its way to a  47-26 first quarter edge and finished with a 51-point fourth quarter.

“We started the game off strong and positive and we worked well on both sides of the ball tonight,” said second-year Lake Hawk coach Ronald Jenkins. “Saunders was just unstoppable and Will Wright brought the fans to their feet with three monster dunks.”

Wright posted 16 points, eight rebounds, and five blocks for West Michigan. Lou Williams scored 16 points, Jacob Owens added 15 points and seven assists and JhaMonte Melton had 13 points and four assists.

Ralph Monday had 15 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and four blocked shots and David Fox had 10 assists, eight points and five steals.

The Lake Hawks will start the ABA playoffs Saturday, March 7 at Grand Haven High School. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
