The Grand Haven softball team remained undefeated Friday following a 7-1 LSJ Logo incertvictory over Zeeland East in a non-league contest.

The Bucs are now 5-0 on the season.

Grand Haven scored in all six of its turns at bat. Sophomore catcher Mikayla Gronback went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored while winning pitcher Yogi Hang (4-0) went 3-for-3 at the plate, which included a two-run double in the third inning.

On the mound Hang scattered four hits with no walks. Jordan Buckingham stood-out defensively at the shortstop position.

The Buccaneers have outscored their first five opponents 64-5, while giving up only one earned run in the process.

Grand Haven’s bats have also started the season strong, with 56 hits in just 25 innings.

“Our girls have been playing really outstanding softball in all areas of the game,” said Grand Haven Coach Paul Masko. “It’s going to be very difficult to match what we have done for these first five games, but I am expecting some excitement coming soon.”
