Nicole Karel’s goal nine minutes into overtime led the Oakridge girls soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Newaygo Saturday in the Division 3 district finals at Belding High School.
Oakridge won its third district championship in the past four years and its seventh since 2005.
Newaygo took a 1-0 lead at halftime with a goal on a penalty kick.
The Eagles’ Brandy Weaver tied the game at 1-1 midway through the second half to help send the game into overtime.
Karel’s game-winning overtime goal went in the upper corner of the net from 35 yards out.
Oakridge will play Hudsonville Unity Christian on Tuesday night at Hope College in the Division 3 regional semifinals.
