Pirates 9, Tigers 3 – Tiger pitching allowed 21 hits, which included four home runs, as the Pittsburgh Pirates won the second game of the series on Wednesday night.
James McCann hit a home run for Detroit, while Nick Castellanos and Yoenis Cespedes each knocked in a run.
Detroit starting pitcher Alfredo Simon took the loss, allowing six runs on 15 hits in five 2/3 innings.
Detroit will look to avoid the sweep against the Pirates on Thursday afternoon.

Red Wings make a splash to start free agency
The Detroit Red Wings have signed top free agent defensemen Mike Green to a three-year contract.
Green had 10 goals and 35 assists in 72 games for the Washington Capitals last season.
The Red Wings also made a deal with forward Brad Richards for one season.
Richards had 12 goals and 25 assists in 76 games for the 2015 Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.
