Twins 6, Tigers 2 – The Tigers are now officially eliminated from playoff contention, after losing to the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night.
Detroit’s elimination ends a streak of four seasons in postseason play.
Nick Castellanos and James McCann each knocked in a run for the Tigers.
Detroit starting pitcher Alfredo Simon took the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits in eight innings.
The Tigers will look to get the series victory with a win over the Twins on Sunday afternoon in their final home game of the season.
Detroit General Manager Al Avila announced before the game that the Tigers will retain Manager Brad Ausmus for the 2016 season.
