The Muskegon Community College volleyball team dropped both of its matches Friday on Day 1 of the Parkland Invitational in Champaign, Illinois.LSJ Logo incert

The Jayhawks lost their first match to nationally ranked Kirkwood Community College 3-2. The set scores were 25-16, 22-25, 25-21, 22-25 and 15-10.

Leaders for the Jayhawks were Hannah Deblois with 15 kills, Jane Kuipers and Rachel Brown with 12 kills apiece, Lindsey Jacobs with 52 assists, Marissa Hassevoort with 24 digs, Jenna Pesch and Brooke Day with 15 digs each and Alysia Folkersma with two aces.

MCC lost its second match, to nationally ranked Illinois Central, 3-1. The Jayhawks put up a fight, with two sets going to extra points, before falling 25-22, 25-15, 26-28 and 36-34.

MCC was led by Brown with 16 Kills, Kuipers and Deblois with 12 kills each, Jacobs with 52 assists and Hassevoort with 27 digs.

The Jayhawks are 7-8 on the season.
