The Muskegon Lumberjacks opened their preseason with a 7-2 loss against the Bloomington Thunder on Tuesday night at the L.C. Walker Arena.

Bloomington jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Jake Slaker and former Lumberjack Steven Merl.

The Jacks cut their deficit to 2-1 with a goal from Danny Digrande. Dante Palecco and Graham Lillibridge assisted on the goal.

The Thunder scored the next four goals by Slaker, Merl, Tarek Baker and Ethan Somoza to give Bloomington a 6-1 after the second period.

Palecco scored the final goal of the night for Muskegon, cutting its deficit to 6-2. Will Harrison scored the final goal of the game for the Thunder.

The Lumberjacks will face the Thunder tomorrow night in Bloomington in a rematch at 8 p.m.
