Traxton Gordon had 20 points, six rebounds and five assists to lead the Hesperia boys basketball team to a 57-54 win over White Cloud Friday in Central States Activities Association action.
The Panthers took a late lead with a bucket following a steal by Scott Peters.
Mark Workman followed with a blocked shot with 15 seconds left to help close out the victory for Hesperia.
Jake Palmer added 19 points for the Panthers.
GRAND RAPIDS UNION 58, MONA SHORES 50 – The Red Hawks (7-1, 2-0) went on a 15-3 run to close the first half and establish a comfortable lead. The Sailors (2-5, 0-2) found their stride in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t draw closer than eight points. Union’s Sergio Biaz led all scorers with 20 points. Kobe Burse led the Sailors with 18 points, including 16 in the second half, and eight rebounds. Hunter Broersma pulled down seven rebounds for Mona Shores.
MUSKEGON 64, REETHS-PUFFER 21 – Muskegon (7-1, 2-0) jumped out to a 16-2 first quarter lead and never looked back against Reeths-Puffer (0-7, 0-2). Thirteen players scored for the Big Reds, including Deandre Carter with eight points and James Godwin with seven. The Rockets were led by Josh McKenzie with six points.
HOLLAND CALVARY 53, FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 44 – Will Dukes led Fruitport Calvery with 11 points while Chris Byers added nine. The Eagles fell to 3-4 on the season.
