The Montague wrestling team had the best day among local squads, taking fourth place at Saturday’s 2016 Lloyd Cogswell Memorial Invitational at Ravenna High School.LSJ Logo incert

East Kentwood won the tournament with 129.5 points. Montague had 110.5.

Ravenna finished seventh with 84 points, the Whitehall B team finished 10th with 54, Muskegon Catholic was 12th with 56, Orchard View was 14th with 38 and Holton was 16th with 19.

Montague had two tournament champions – Matthew Lipka (125) and Jacob Mosher (215).

Finishing second for the Wildcats was Tyler Scott in the 160-pound class, while Anthony Barrego (103) and Gage Smith (160) finished third in their respective classes.

The other local champion was Brock Johnson of Muskegon Catholic in the 285-pound class.

Other local runners-up were Dylan Keister of Ravenna (119) and Jake DeVries of Orchard View (130).

Finishing third in their weight classes were Gary Johnson of Ravenna (125) and Hadden Young of Whitehall (119).

Local fourth-place finishers were Adam Benoit of Muskegon Catholic (215), Mitch White of Whitehall (130) and Cameron Whitener of Holton (125).
