Red Wings 2, Blue Jackets 1 (SO) – The Red Wings snapped their four-game winless streak with a victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets in a shootout on Tuesday night.
Riley Sheahan paced Detroit with a goal in regulation and in the shootout, while Andreas Athanasiou added a shootout goal.
The Blue Jackets lone goal was netted by Boone Jenner. The tally was assisted by Brandon Dubinsky and David Savard.
Detroit’s goaltender Petr Mrazek picked up the victory, stopping 28 of 29 shots.
The Red Wings are now 30-20-11 on the season, good for 71 points and third place in the Atlantic Division. They are four points ahead of New Jersey for the final playoff spot.
Detroit will head to Colorado and play the Avalanche in an outdoor game at Coors Field on Saturday night.
