The Muskegon varsity girls basketball team struggled on the offensive end, but overcame Wyoming Godwin Heights, 38-31 in a non-conference battle on Tuesday.lsj-fb-logo

Mardreika Cook totaled a double double with 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Big Reds, which improves to 12-3 this season.

Tierra Williams added 10 points for Muskegon.

REETHS-PUFFER 53, HOLLAND 27 — The Rockets blasted off early, jumping out to a 22-7 first-quarter lead and rolling to an easy win. Brooke Larabee led the charge with 20 points, while Artrese Williams and Delaney Bolles added 12 each. Bolles also grabbed 13 rebounds, while Elysia Mattos dished off four assists.

ALLENDALE 51, WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 41 – WMC trailed 23-19 at halftime, but Allendale built its lead to 15 points with four minutes left in the game. The Warriors were led by Katelyn Wright with 11 points, while Cassie Kingma added 10. Aubrey Goorman chipped in with seven points, six rebounds and three steals.

FREMONT 34, NEWAYGO 21 – Fremont’s stifling defense only allowed two first-quarter points and four second-quarter points. The Packers (4-11, 1-5) were led by Annaliese Patenge with 10 points and seven rebounds. Bri Harris added nine points, 12 rebounds and five steals for Fremont. The Lions (5-9, 2-6) were led by Riley Knight and Madi Bush with 10 and eight points, respectively.
