The Muskegon Community College men’s basketball team continued its winning ways with a 99-89 victory over Glen Oaks Community College at Bartels-Rode Gymnasium on Wednesday.LSJ Logo incert

MCC, ranked 13th in the nation, improved to 20-4 on the season. The Jayhawks are also 10-2 in league play, good for first place in the Western Conference of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association.

The Jayhawks led 45-38 at halftime, thanks to a 30-18 scoring edge in the paint. Marcus Tumblin had 11 points in the first half while Eddie Tornes and Terrance Crosby both scored 10.

Tornes hit six straight free throws in the second half, after he drew a foul and an opponent was called for two technicals, putting MCC in control of the contest.

The Jayhawks won despite missing 18 of 21 three-point attempts. They helped themselves by making all 16 of their free throws and outrebounding Glen Oaks 56-40.

Tornes finished with 22 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Tumblin added 18 points and 11 rebounds and Cosby collected 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Mike Williams had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Aaron Sydnor tossed in 14 points for the Jayhawks.
