The Jayhawks dropped to 16-7 overall and 6-4 in conference play.

MCC trailed by 17 points at halftime, then fought back to pull within three points, 57-54, with just over 10 minutes remaining.

But GRCC converted its free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

“I was really disappointed in our overall effort, especially because of how big this game was for us,” said MCC Coach Amanda Parker. “GRCC shot the lights out, especially in the 1st half, but half of that is due to our lack of pressure defensively.

“My kids have to understand that this league is one of the most competitive leagues in junior college and anything can happen on any given night. We have to come to play on the both ends of the floor, every game, regardless of who’s on the other side.”

Bailey Freeland led the Jayhawks with 17 pts. Camaryia Williams added 15 points, 8 rebounds and five assists; Morgan Giddings had 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists; and Kaylie Caverly added 12 points.
