Maple Leafs 1 Red Wings 0 – Michael Grabner’s game-winning goal with 30 seconds left in the second period led the Toronto Maple Leafs over the Red Wings on Sunday night.
Grabner’s goal was the lone goal in the contest and was assisted by P.A. Parenteau. Maple Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier stopped all 38 Detroit shots.
Detroit’s goaltender Petr Mrazek played strong in net despite taking the loss. He stopped 26 of 27 shots.
The Red Wings are now 34-24-11 on the season, good for 79 points and fourth place in the Atlantic Division. They are three points ahead of Philadelphia for the final playoff spot with 13 games remaining.
Detroit will open a four-game road swing starting Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers.
