The Ludington boy’s basketball team ended its season with a 56-41 loss to Benzie County Central in the Class B district finals on Friday night.

LSJ Logo incertThe Orioles (15-6) held the normally sharp-shooting Huskies to just one 3-point shot on the night, but couldn’t keep up offensively.

Ludington trailed by just eight points entering the fourth quarter, but Benzie Central put the game away at the free-throw line,. The Huskies made 27 free throws compared to just six for the Orioles during the final stanza.

The Huskies were led by Kyle Smith with 21 points, including 14  free throws during the fourth quarter.

Sam Laduke paced the Orioles with 12 points while Cameron Bandstra scored 11. Jared Collins chipped in with six points on two 3-point baskets.

“I was proud of our kids,” said Ludington Coach Thad Shank. “We beat some quality teams this year.”
