The Fremont baseball team picked up a 4-1 Lakes 8 Conference victory over defending state champion Muskegon Catholic on Friday behind a combined one-hitter from Conner Cook and Brandon Clark.LSJ Logo incert

Cook started the game for the Packers, pitching five innings while allowing one hit, two walks, and striking out one batter. Clark came on in relief and pitched two innings while striking out one batter and walking one.

The Packers got on the board when Tyler Zimmerman scored on a Clark base hit to give the Packers a 1-0 lead.

The Packer pulled ahead2-0  in the third inning when Tim MacKay scored on a second RBI single from Clark.

Parker Groenevelt and MacKay each scored to give the Packers a 4-0 lead after four innings.

The Crusaders attempted to comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning with three batters reaching base. But they were only able to scratch one run across when Hai Nguyen scored on a sacrifice fly from John Sanocki.

The Packers were led by Clark and Zimmerman with two hits each while Nguyen had the lone Crusader hit.
