Indians 10, Tigers 1 – The Tigers dropped their fifth game out of six as the Cleveland Indians pounded Detroit on Saturday afternoon.
The Indians scored three runs in the first inning and five in the third to jump out to an 8-0 lead.
Detroit responded with a solo home run by Jarrod Saltalamacchia in the fifth inning to cut its deficit.
Cleveland’s starting pitching Corey Kluber shut down the Tigers, allowing one run on two hits while striking out 10 batters in eight innings.
The Tigers’ starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez struggled, allowing six earned runs on nine hits in 2 1/3 innings.
Detroit will look to avoid the sweep against the Indians with a win on Sunday afternoon.
