The Muskegon Lumberjacks ended their 2015-16 season with a 5-4 loss to the hpst Des Moines Buccaneers on Saturday night, but the defeat was not without its highlights.LSJ Logo incert

Lumberjack star Rem Pitlick tallied an assist in the game, leaving him with a total of 46 goals and 43 assists for 89 points on the season.

He won the league scoring title, finishing a whopping 29 points above second-place Ross Colton of Cedar Rapids. He also won the goal-scoring title, finishing 11 ahead of Colton, and the assist title, totaling one more than Marc Michaelis of Green Bay.

Muskegon forward Matej Paulovic had three assists in his final USHL game. He finished the season with 20 goals and 33 assists for 53 points.

Rookie forward Collin Adams scored a three-goal hat trick against Des Moines. He finished his season with 27 goals and 34 assists for 61 points.

The Lumberjacks finished with a 27-26-7 record, good for sixth place in the nine-team USHL Eastern Conference.

Des Moines opened the scoring on Saturday in the first period before Adams collected his first goal to tie the contest 1-1. The Buccaneers scored again before Muskegon’s Bobby Kaiser notched his first career USHL goal to knot the score at 2-2.

Des Moines followed with three unanswered goals and led 5-2 at the second intermission.

Adams scored twice more early in the third period, pulling the Jacks to within one goal, but they could get no closer.
