The Montague softball team won the Red Devil Invitational at Holton High School on Saturday by posting a 3-0 record.
The Wildcats beat Holton in the championship game 7-1. They led 2-1, then pulled away with a five-run sixth inning, sparked by a three-run homer from Brandi Rice.
Holton loaded the bases in the seventh and final inning but failed to score.
Hannah Smith led Montague’s offense with four hits, including a triple, and 2 RBIs. Rice finished with four hits and three RBIs while Chase Jancek had two hits and an RBI.
Courtney Lohman pitched the victory for the Wildcats, scattering three hits while striking out six.
Holton and Montabella finished with tournament with 2-1 records. Newaygo and Benzie Central were 1-2 and Mason County Central went 0-3.
