McLelland’s hit, which crawled up the shortstop’s arm and somehow landed behind him, allowed pinch-runner Ethan Vosberg to score the winning run for MCC.

The Jayhawks rallied from a 9-3 deficit to steal the win. Hayden Modaff’s two-run double in the bottom of the seventh tied the score and sent the game to extra innings.

Mitchell Reyes was 4-for-4 for the Jayhawks with three RBIs in the game. Colin McClelland finished with three hits and three RBIs while Ryan McClelland had three hits, scored three runs, and got the win on the mound after pitching 2 1/3 innings of relief.

MCC lost the first game of the doubleheader 7-1. Reyes and Kolbe Peller each had two hits for the Jayhawks.

The Jayhawks have now won six of their last seven games. They are 15-16 on the season and 8-6 in conference play.

MCC Coach Greg Guzman said the team had a meeting after a recent doubleheader loss to Grand Rapids Community College and the players have responded very well.

“They are playing better,” Guzman said. “We ran five straight wins after that meeting. These guys scrap. They don’t give up.”
