Spring Lake baseball team gets a 2-1 win, Fruitport retaliates with a 10-1 win

The Spring Lake and Fruitport baseball teams split their Lakes 8 Conference doubleheader on Friday.

Spring Lake clinched Game 1 in the bottom of the seventh inning with a walk-off sacrifice fly by Gray Christensen, which scored Griffin Lorimer.

Kyle Peets pitched a complete game for the Lakers, allowing one run on five hits and four walks, while also striking out five Trojans.

Zach Miller also pitched a complete game for the Trojans, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks, while striking out six.

In Game 2, Conner Schuitema pitched a complete game for the Trojans, allowing one run on six hits, one walk and five strikeouts.

Jerod Wierengo led the Trojans at the plate with two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs. Schuitema also had two hits and one RBI.
