The Whitecaps fell behind 4-1 before Derek Hill cut their deficit to 4-3 with a two-run triple in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Lake County extended its lead to 5-3 after adding a run in the top of seventh inning.

West Michigan’s Will Allen cut the Whitecaps’ deficit to 5-4 with an RBI double in the eighth inning.

The Whitecaps were led by Hill with three hits while Jose Azocar chipped in with two.

West Michigan will open a four-game series on the road against Dayton starting on Thursday night.
