The Spring Lake softball squad tied the school record for victories with a doubleheader sweep over Ludington, 10-0 and 15-0, on Friday night in Lakes 8 action.

In Game 1, the Lakers were paced by Lauren Hellman with three hits while Katie Mumby and Jenna Core added two hits each.

Core hit her eighth home run of the season.

Spring Lake’s Lauren Somers pitched the Game 1 victory, tossing a four-hit shutout to pick up her 11th win of the season.

In Game 2, the Lakers were led by Madelyn Nelson and Hellman with three hits apiece while Core added two hits.

Maddison Dinneweth chipped in with a key single in the contest.

Lakers’ pitcher Leah Vaughan picked up her 11th win of the season, throwing a one-hit shutout while striking out six batters.
