The Whitecaps and TinCaps played the majority of Friday’s game in a driving rain which saw both teams scoreless until a fourth inning wild pitch by West Michigan starting pitcher Beau Burrows gave Fort Wayne a 1-0 lead.whitecaps logo not for feature art

On the other side, TinCaps pitching was brilliant as starter Jacob Nix and reliever Enyel De Los Santos (2-1) combined for a two-hit shutout while striking out nine. The Caps didn’t reach base until Shane Zeile ripped a two-out triple in the fifth. Fort Wayne added a trio of insurance runs late in the ballgame to pick up the win, snapping their three-game losing streak.

De Los Santos earns his second win of the season after tossing five innings of scoreless baseball, while Burrows (1-3) took the tough-luck loss despite allowing only one run. The loss sends the ‘Caps back to the .500 mark at 16-16, while the TinCaps improve to 19-16.
