The West Michigan Whitecaps used a pair of big innings to defeat the Beloit Snappers 6-3 in front of 1,870 fans Tuesday night at Fifth Third Ballpark.LSJ Logo incert

Beloit opened the scoring when Chris Iriart launched his league leading fifth home run of the season in the second, but the Whitecaps quickly answered with a trio of runs in the third and fourth innings.

RBI singles by Will Allen and Will Maddox gave the ‘Caps the lead in the third, followed with the three-run fourth highlighted by Rashad Brown’s two-run single. The Snappers scored a pair of runs in the fifth, but the Whitecaps held the Snappers scoreless over the final four innings to pick up the victory.

Whitecaps reliever Jon Maciel (2-1) tossed 3.2 scoreless innings to earn his second victory of the season. Jake Shull tossed a perfect ninth to earn his third save. The Whitecaps improve back to an even 12-12, while the Snappers fall to 14-12. Maddox led the ‘Caps offense, going 3-for-4 with a run batted in.
